‘Challenge accepted’: VHP hits back at Congress for promising ban on Bajrang Dal in Karnataka

Calling Congress’ promise of banning the Bajrang Dal in Karnataka, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday accepted the challenge and said that the right-wing group will fight against the Grand Old Party following all democratic principles.

The statement from VHP comes hours after the Congress party launched its manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections and vowed to ban the youth wing of the Sangh-affiliated VHP, saying that it promotes “enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities”.

The Grand Old Party (GOP) also compared the Bajrang Dal with the Popular Front of India (PFI). The Union Home Ministry had last year extended ban on PFI.

It is to be noted that the Assembly election in Karnataka will be held on May 10 and the results will be out on May 13.

“It is unfortunate that the Congress party while releasing the manifesto today for the upcoming Karnataka polls compared nationalist group Bajrang Dal with anti-national and banned organisation PFI,” news agency ANI quoted VHP leader Surendra Jain as saying.
